Training pants for my boyfriend

These pants are designed by my boyfriend and me, and made by me. For him the most important thing was the "kitty face", and I had some trouble with making it, but I guess it turned out ok. The fabrics are second hand and cost all together around 6€.

Wardrobe inventory part 4 /// Turning pants into a skirt

Pants: from Spain, years ago (around 10€)

Well, obviously these pants were too small. I didn't want to throw them away because I like the colour... So, I turned them into a high-waisted skirt. It wasn't as easy as I thought, because I had to (for example) take in the side seams to make the waist circumference smaller... The first pants  (over here) were so much easier. But, anyway, I made it!

Turning a curtain into a skirt

Curtain: second hand (2€)
Zipper: second hand (0,20€)

I found this curtain from a second hand store and immediately thought that the length would be perfect for a high-waisted skirt. I also liked the hem, the pattern, and of course - the colours! All I had to do was:

1. Decide the hem circumference
2. Measure my waist circumference
3. Make (measure and sew) six darts
4. Attatch the zipper
5. Sew the side seam
6. Overlock the seams

Sewing the zipper didn't go so well, because I hadn't done it many times before... But that'll do. I think the result is cute!

31.05.2011 Shopping

T-shirt: second hand (3€)
Cardigan: second hand (4€)
Sunflowers: second hand (0,40€ all together)

Because of my "green values" I only buy second hand clothes. The exceptions are underwear, socks and tights and sometimes shoes - I try to buy them second hand too, but sometimes it's too hard to find good second hand shoes. I try to go shopping rarely and try to consume as little as possible - sometimes it's really hard because I am - I have to admit it - a bit materialistic. Sometimes I feel like a bit too much... But I'm trying hard not to be! And I really am getting better all the time. When I'm shopping I always think "Do I really need this?" and try to avoid impulse buying. Nowadays it is quite easy to buy new clothes as rarely as possible because I'm studying and that means that I have very little money...

P.S. I have no idea what those sunflower-thingies actually are but they were so cute that I had to buy them (What did I just say about impulse buying...?) ! I'm planning to use at least one of them to make a necklace. We'll see...

30.05.2011 Making a card from recycled materials

I made a congratulation card for a friend who just graduated. I think self-made cards are so much better, they have much more thought and more "soul". And because I have "green values", of course I try to use recycled materials as much as possible! I think the result is quite cute.

28.05.2011 Pink !

Undershirt: from A Coruña, Spain, years ago (3€)

Necklace: made by me

P.S. My hair is so awful

Wardrobe inventory part 3 /// Turning pants into a skirt

Pants: second hand (around 4€)

I'd had these pinstripe pants at least for 4 years. I wore them rarely, but I liked them. Well, during the wardrobe inventory I went through all my pants and tried them on and found out, that these pants didn't fit me anymore - they were too small! I wasn't ready to throw them away, so the only option was to turn them into a high-waisted skirt.

I don't know if I'll be wearing this skirt a lot, I guess not, because I wore the pants rarely too. It's not really my style. But some days, when I'm bored and wanna wear something different than usually, I will wear it! Hmmm, maybe with the yellow tights... Or the orange belt...
